These following matters are advised, treated and concluded by the persons noted above in the form as follows below, by virtue of the power committed to them by the whole of the three estates in the last parliament held earlier in Edinburgh:
Firstly, concerning the marriage of our sovereign lord, it is advised and concluded by all the aforementioned people that an embassy should be sent in all good haste to Denmark and other places seen as expedient between now and next March or April, with full commission to advise and conclude on the marriage of our sovereign lord in a good and profitable place with an appropriate person of noble blood, and to have full power to marry and bring home a queen. And that a prelate, a lord, a knight or a clerk, to be chosen for that purpose by our sovereign lord, should travel in the said embassy with forty honourable and worshipful persons or within with them. And that they shall have £3,000 of usual money of the realm at the current value for their expenses. Of this sum, the prelates and clergy who are now present, on behalf of themselves and also of the rest of the clergy who are absent, by virtue of the power committed to them in the last parliament, thankfully and heartily granted, not by way of tax or contribution but of their own free will, to give our sovereign lord £1,000 of the aforesaid money without prejudice to follow to them thereupon in the future, for the expediting of the aforesaid honourable matter. And also the lords, barons, freeholders and burgesses who are now present, on behalf of themselves and of the rest who are absent, by the power committed to them, heartily granted to pay and give our sovereign lord £2,000 to expedite the said matter, that is to say £1,000 from the estate of the barons and £1,000 from the burgesses, and the barons' sum is to be raised by all lords, barons, freeholders, free tenants, ladies with terces, joint infeftments, dowries and by whomsoever else have unmortified land outwith burghs.

Item, concerning the matter of Norway, it is ordained that the embassy travelling for the king's marriage should have instructions in that matter as shall be seen expedient to the king and his council.

Item, it is decreed and ordained that from now on the Scottish groat of the crown that formerly passed for 13d shall in the future have course for 14d among our sovereign lord's lieges, and the half groat of the same [shall have course] for 7d.

Item, that in the future the old English penny shall have course corresponding to the old English groat, that is to say that of 4d. Item, in like manner the new English penny of Edward is to have course corresponding to the new groat of Edward, that is to say of 3d.

Item, it is decreed and ordained that the white Scottish pennies have entire course in all payments until the next continuation of parliament or whole parliament, and then if [the value] needs to be remedied, to be set therefore as shall be thought expedient.

Item, that in the future only 12d in the pound of black money should be accepted in payment, and so forth decreasing proportionately as the sum decreases.

Item, it is ordained that the raising of the value of the crowned groat and English penny be not harmed contrary to the acts made previously concerning money, but that act is to stand in full force and effect as when it was first enacted.

Item, concerning the importing of bullion, the entire three estates now present ratify and approve the acts and statutes made thereupon earlier, and ordain them to be observed and executed until the next continuation of parliament, whole parliament or general council.

Item, concerning metts and measures, it is decreed and ordained that the chamberlain and sheriffs cause the last act made thereupon to be be put to due execution in all points, as they will answer to our sovereign lord.

Item, concerning the tax of barons, it is ordained that there be an inquisition made by the following persons who are deputed to this purpose and named in each shire, and to retour the value of each man's rent. And after arrival of the retours [Archibald Crawford], abbot of Holyroodhouse, Sir Alexander Napier and Thom[as] Oliphant shall modify and and set the tax evenly upon all persons who are ordained to contribute to it as previously written.
Item, it is ordained that [Archibald Crawford], abbot of Holyroodhouse, be receiver of the tax from the clergy, Sir Alexander Napier [receiver] of the barons and Thomas Oliphant [receiver] of the burghs.
