Procedure: preamble

The parliament of our most excellent prince and lord, the lord James III, by the grace of God most illustrious king of Scots, begun and held at Edinburgh, in the tolbooth of the said burgh, on 12 October 1467, and in the eighth year of his reign. On which day were called all and sundry the lords of the realm, prelates, bishops, abbots, priors and the great men of the kingdom, earls, barons, freeholders and commissioners of the burghs; those absent are named in the rolls of suits, and judged to owe amercements.
