This revocation is registered by special command of our supreme lord the king.
At Edinburgh, on 11 October 1464. In a congregation of the spiritual and temporal lords underwritten, convened by our supreme lord James III, most illustrious king of Scots, for the making of peace, the tranquillity of the realm and justice - namely the reverend fathers in Christ and lords James [Kennedy], Andrew [Durisdeer], Thomas [Lauder], Thomas [Spens] and Ninian [Spot], venerable bishops of the churches of St Andrews, Glasgow, Dunkeld, Aberdeen and Galloway; the fathers in Christ, the abbots [Alan de Camera, abbot of] Kelso, [Malcolm Brydy, abbot of] Arbroath and [Walter Dewar, abbot of] Dryburgh; the magnificent and mighty lords Andrew [Stewart], lord Avondale, chancellor of Scotland; Colin [Campbell], earl of Argyll, lord Campbell, and Gilbert [Kennedy], lord Kennedy, procurators of the noble lord John [MacDonald], earl of Ross and Lord of the Isles; William [Forbes], lord Forbes, procurator of Alexander [Gordon], earl of Huntly and Lord [of] Badenoch; David [Lindsay], earl of Crawford and Lord Lindsay, John [Stewart], earl of Atholl; Alexander Boyd of Drumcoll, knight, procurator of John [Sutherland], earl of Sutherland; Malise [Graham], earl of Menteith, James [Douglas], earl of Morton and Lord of Dalkeith, Walter [Stewart], lord Lorn; William de Douglas, guardian of Alexander [Montgomery], lord Montgomery; Thomas [Erskine], lord Erskine, John [Lindsay], lord Lindsay of the Byres, William [Abernethy], lord Abernethy in Rothiemay, James [Hamilton], lord Hamilton, Andrew [Gray], lord le Gray, Alexander [Cunningham], lord de Kilmaurs, Patrick [Hepburn], lord Hailes, William [Borthwick], lord Borthwick, Alan [Cathcart], lord Cathcart, Robert [Lyle], lord Lyle, Masters James Lindsay, provost of Lincluden, keeper of our lord the king's privy seal, Archibald Whitelaw, our lord the king's secretary; Robert de Crichton of Sanquhar, Walter Scott de Kirkurd, William de Edmonstone of Lintrathen, John Carlyle of Torthorwald, Thomas de Cranstoun of that Ilk, James de Ogilvy, knights; Robert de Blackadder of that Ilk, George Greenlaw and Lancelot de Abernethy, and a great many other nobles there present - it was stated on behalf of our said supreme lord, King James III, by the noble and mighty lord Andrew, lord Avondale, the aforesaid chancellor of Scotland, how diverse alienations, assedations in feu-ferme and surrenders of diverse lands otherwise annexed, incorporated and united to the royal crown by the three estates of the realm in parliament, were unfortunately made by the late most serene prince James II, king of Scots, of good memory, his progenitor, misled by certain men then around him during his minority, after the said annexation, to the prejudice and damage of himself, his successors and the royal crown; and publicly revoked by the same late king when he attained his majority. Seeking on behalf of the same present lord the king that the aforesaid spiritual and temporal lords advise, declare and conclude whether the said alienations and surrenders in feu-ferme such as were made as aforesaid are of any force, strength, effect or vigour. To which points the aforesaid lords - considering and examining the above, and also the damage and prejudice which might come and ensue from such assedations and alienations to our lord the king, his successors and their royal crown and realm, and to the spiritual and temporal lords of the same - maturely advised, decreed, declared and concluded with unanimous agreement that all and sundry alienations, assedations in feu-ferme and surrenders by the aforesaid late James II, king of Scots, of good memory, to whatsoever persons, of whatsoever lands otherwise annexed to the royal crown as aforesaid, made after the annexation of the same, [are] null and invalid, void and empty; and the same lands are to be returned and resumed by our said present lord the king to the property of his crown, without any other process being made thereupon. In testimony and faith to all and sundry of the aforesaid, the seals of the said spiritual and temporal lords present were appended, at Edinburgh, on the year, day and month aforesaid.
