[Letter to king approved; subcommittee for the militia appointed]

The lords of the articles approve a letter to be drawn in answer to his majesty's letter to the parliament.

The commissioner appoints [William Douglas], duke of Hamilton, [John Murray, earl of] Atholl, [John Hay, earl of] Tweeddale, [Sir James Dalrymple of Stair], president, [Charles Maitland of Hatton], treasurer depute, Lieutenant General Drummond and [Sir Andrew Ramsay of Abbotshall], provost of Edinburgh, to be a committee to consider the acts of parliament and council concerning the militia, and what is free to be changed or added to these acts and to report. Their first meeting to be presently in this place, and thereafter to appoint their own meetings, and to report to the articles on Monday afternoon.
