The king's majesty, considering that diverse complaints have been made of the inequality and disproportion in the valuations within the shire of Aberdeen, and conceiving it just that what is amiss therein is rectified, does therefore, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, give full power and commission to Mr Alexander Patton of Kinaldie, Mr Alexander Menzies of Kinmundy, Sir John Keith of Caskieben, Alexander Bannerman, elder of Elsick, Alexander Abercrombie of Fetternear, Thomas Gordon of Pittendreich, Patrick Gordon of Cults, George Anderson of Mabie-Counnettoch, Francis Ross of Auchlossen, John Gordon of Blelack, John Hamilton in Corse, John Gordon of Artloch, Alexander Bisset of Lessendrum, [...] Mowat of Balquholly, John Gordon of Fechill, Colonel Fullerton of Dudwick, Sir John Gordon of Haddo, Colonel George Keith of Aden, Alexander Fraser, elder of Philorth and John Udny of that ilk, or the major part of them, with the whole noblemen of the shire supernumerary, to meet at such times and places they shall think fit and, having first given their solemn oaths for their faithful and impartial discharge of this commission, with power to them to take trial of the present valuations of the shire, and if they find any inequality, disproportion or wrong in the same, that they take new and exact trial of the rent of the shire and, accordingly as they shall find the same to be, that they set down a new and entire valuation and rental of every heritor's rent within the shire, and cause draw it up in a formal way and insert it in a register to be subscribed under their hands, to be given in and kept as the only valuation of the shire according to which the burdens are hereafter to be proportioned and raised.
