Forasmuch as by public order of the then pretended committee of estates in the year 1651 it is appointed that £100 should be paid to Sir William Bellenden, now designed Lord Bellenden, out of the monies then gathered for his majesty's use, and his majesty considering that the Lord Bellenden has wanted payment thereof now for the space of eleven years and that, during that time, he has been subject to many hardships and sufferings for his affection and adherence to his majesty's interest; his majesty has therefore, with advice and consent of his estates in parliament, and in lieu of the former order, appointed and hereby appoints £200 sterling to be paid to the said Lord Bellenden out of the readiest of the two months' maintenance formerly imposed and now raised for his majesty's use, by order passed in this parliament, with the which these shall be to all persons concerned sufficient warrant.
