The lord commissioner produced a patent under the great seal nominating [John Leslie], earl of Rothes to be president of his majesty's privy council, which being read (and the earl of Rothes having taken the oath of allegiance and of faithful administration) was delivered by the commissioner to the earl of Rothes, who received the same upon his knees.
Act concerning mass priests and Jesuits passed and approved, and appointed to be printed and published.†
[Sir John Fletcher], lord advocate, produced a summons of treason against Sir Archibald Johnston [of Wariston], John Home of Kello and William Dundas of Magdalens, which being several times called at the bar and at the great door of the parliament house, and none of them compearing, the summons against Sir Archibald Johnston was read in open parliament, and referred to the lords of the articles to consider of the relevancy, and to receive the probation, and report both to the parliament.†

Upon a petition given in by [Archibald Campbell], marquis of Argyll, order passed commanding the advocates he desired to plead for and consult his defence, his other petition for a longer day to answer his last rejoinder and concerning George Campbell, referred to the lords of the articles.
The commissioner continues the parliament until Tuesday at 2 o'clock, and continues all summons as above etc. The articles to meet on Monday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.†
