The estates of parliament, having taken into their consideration a supplication presented to them in name of John, lord Reay, Aeneas† [MacDonald], lord MacDonnell and Ronald MacDonnell of Lundie, mentioning that they, being constantly in his majesty's service the time of the last valuation for assessment, could not safely appear with the valuators as others in the shire did, whereby they were not only overvalued in these lands that did properly belong to themselves, but ordained to pay for other lands whereunto they had no right; humbly therefore desiring some speedy course might be taken for rectifying of their valuation, or at least to ordain the same to stand as it was rectified by the pretended council of estate, as the supplication bears. The king's majesty and estates of parliament ordains the petitioners to be cessed for their proportion of their six months' cess according to the last valuation given upon oath, and ordains the commissioners of the shire to see it done accordingly.
