Sir James Balfour, lyon king of arms, exhibited and produced an old evident concerning the entailment of the crown by King Robert the Bruce to the race of the Stewarts, and protested he might be exonerated thereof.
[John Campbell, earl of Loudoun], lord chancellor, in name of his majesty and the parliament, did render him hearty thanks for his care and pains taken for recovery of so noble an evident, and ordain him to have an act of approbation of his service and for his exoneration of the evident, and ordain the same to be inserted and recorded in the books of parliament and to be kept with the records of parliament.
