The estates of parliament permit Mr Seymour and Mr Rhodes to stay with his majesty, and ordain their names to be inserted with those licenced to remain with his majesty of yesterday's date.
The estates appoint Michael Elphinstone and Sir George Melville to attend his majesty as undermaster of the household for the present, and Michael Elphinstone to serve first.
Supplication Mr Robert Farquhar [of Mounie] read and ordain the act to be extended against Sir James Melville as supervisor in face of parliament.
[The estates appoint [Sir Daniel Carmichael of Hyndford], treasurer depute, to go tomorrow early to Falkland to see to the provision of the king's house, and that one be sent away presently.]†
The estates ordain Assynt to have the charge of the garrison which is in Strathnaver called Tong, and Captain William Gordon to have a company out of those of Sutherland.
†Being put to the question whether the recruits shall presently march from the rendezvous to the regiments, companies and troops to whom they are to join or not, it was voted affirmative; and appoint an order, according to this vote, to be sent to the committees of war in each shire, and an extract of the whole recruits to be given to the lieutenant general that he may give order for that effect to the officers.
Refer to the committee of estates to give orders for the troops in the bordering shires, namely: Merse, Teviotdale and Dumfries, and appoint all of the levy north of the River Tay to march southward presently until they come to this side of the River Tay and advertise the committee there, and ordain those of Galloway to march to the shire of Dumfries, and for the levy of the men of the shire, ordain them not to return from the rendezvous to their several outputters but to bide and quarter together in their several shires and to be exercised and drilled together until they get further orders from the committee of estates concerning their quarters or marching.
