Prayers said and rolls called.
†Mr James Hamilton and certain others of the commissioners of the assembly produced a supplication in name of the neighbours and merchant traffickers of Edinburgh anent the exacting of oaths in matters of excise, together with another paper anent oaths in matters of customs and excise, read in parliament and remitted to a committee to be chosen of three of every estate; and in the meantime ordain the committee of excise to go on in uplifting the excise according to their former commission.
†Act anent Mr Alexander Forest read and remitted to the committee of processes, with power to them to give in overtures in matters of falsehood.
†Act anent the constant sitting of session of 31 May 1649 read and remitted to the bodies to consider anent the expediency of the sitting of the session.
†The estates ordain the whole members of the committee of processes and bills to attend their diets of meeting, with certification that those who do not keep these meetings shall be accounted as disobeyers of the order of parliament, and give power to those who keep diets to censure the absents.
†Supplication countess of Dirleton and Sir John Scott of Scotstarvit read, and warrant granted for citing the party upon six days to compear before the parliament.
†Supplication Major Bryce Cochrane remitted to the committee of quarterings.
†Supplication [Alexander Leslie], earl of Leven, lord general, anent the castle of Edinburgh read and remitted to [Archibald Campbell], lord marquis of Argyll, [Robert Balfour], lord [Balfour of] Burleigh, [Sir Archibald Johnston of Wariston], lord register, Sir John Chiesley [of Kersewell], [Sir James Stewart of Kirkfield and Coltness], provost of Edinburgh, and George Porterfield to consider and report.
Remit to the committee of quarterings to consider what shall be the maintenance of soldiers of foot and horse in the summer season, and ordain the general quartermaster and John Denholm to be present to give their advice and to report their proceedings to the parliament.
Ordain the committee anent the ordering of the king's house to meet this night at 7 o'clock in [Archibald Campbell], marquis of Argyll's house.
Report from the committee of processes anent Sir John Hurry read in parliament and approved, and the estates ordain him to be beheaded tomorrow at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the market cross of Edinburgh.
Report from the committee of processes anent Captain John Spottiswood read and approved, and the estates ordain him to be beheaded tomorrow at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the market cross of Edinburgh.
Report Captain Andrew Affleck from the committee of processes read and approved, and the estates ordain him to be banished from the country under the pain of death, not to come within the country without licence of parliament nor to do any thing in prejudice of the country.
The estates ordain the whole committees to meet at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and the bodies at 5 o'clock, and the parliament tomorrow at 9 o'clock.
