†The estates of parliament ordain a committee to be established of three of every estate to be named by the bodies, with the king's advocate and justice deputes (any five to be the quorum), to consider the depositions and other papers to be given in concerning witches, and give power upon their report to [John Campbell, earl of Loudoun], lord chancellor, to subscribe warrants to put to trial or execution.
Ordain the parliament to meet at 6 o'clock this afternoon (in case James Graham, [earl of Montrose] comes up before 6 o'clock); and if he come not before that time, to meet at 9 o'clock on Monday to pronounce the doom and sentence to him.
The paper concerning the demands made to his majesty by the commissioners read and passed in parliament.
Warrant given to the provost and bailies of Edinburgh to receive James Graham, [earl of Montrose] and other prisoners from [Colonel James Campbell], laird of Lawers or his officers at the watergate of the Canongate, and ordain their guard to stand there and receive him and to transport him to their wardhouse there, to be kept by them until further order from parliament.
Thereafter the aforementioned paper containing demands made to his majesty and the other paper containing the declaration of the judgment of the parliament concerning the sense and meaning of those articles of invitation made to his majesty both read, voted and passed in parliament.
