The estates of parliament, considering that there is commission granted by the lords and others of the committee of estates and the lords of his majesty's privy council to the right noble earl Francis [Scott], earl of Buccleuch, lord Whitechester and Eskdale, William [Kerr], earl of Lothian, lord Kerr of Newbattle, Sir William Douglas of Cavers, knight, Archibald Douglas, his son, fiar thereof, Sir William Scott of Harden, knight, Sir William Scott, his son, fiar thereof, Sir Andrew Kerr of Greenhead, Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers, Mr Alexander Colville of Blair, justice depute, William Elliott of Stobs, Gilbert Elliott, his son, fiar thereof, John Rutherford of Edgerston, Walter Scott of Whitslade, William Scott of Synton, John Scott of Gorrenberry, Archibald Douglas of Dornock, James Douglas of Mansheill, Sir Walter Caddell of that ilk, knight, Walter Scott of Goudilands, William Kerr of Newlands, Patrick Scott of Thirlestane, Gideon Scott of Highchester, John Kerr of Lochtour, Harry Cranston, uncle to [William Cranston], lord Cranston, and John Rutherford, provost of Jedburgh, and other commissioners contained in the said commission for holding of a justice court or courts at Jedburgh upon 2 July next to come, the said estates of parliament have given and granted and give and grant dispensation to the persons aforesaid for holding of two justice courts, the one thereof at Jedburgh to begin 3 July next, and the other to be held at Selkirk and to begin 10 July. And in case the aforesaid commissioners shall find that any difficulty occurs, they are hereby ordained to take advice of the lords and others of the committee of estates or of the lords of his majesty's privy council before they proceed to any final determination in the said matter.
