The earle of Breadalbine having represented to his maties commissioner and the lords of the articles that the earle of Caithness did yesterday in the house before the articles threaten him in these wordes: 'If you doe not quitt any interest you have in those lands [that] were my father's, be God's wounds, I will bee even with you'. And the earle of Caithness, being immediatelie called and interogate, denyed he spake these words.
His maties commissioner and the lords of the articles having considered the petitione of the earle of Queensberrie with the depositions of the Lord Bargenie and James Johnstoun, wryter, taken by the committee, they grant warrand and commissione to the shirreffe principall of the shyre of Lanerk and his deputtes (in case the charter kist bee in that shyre), and to the shireffe principall of the shyre of Air and his deputtes (if the charter kist be in that shyre), to open the charter kist and to take inspection of the same; and if the blank band be mentioned in the petitione bee fund in the charter kist, ordaines the same to be given up to the earle of Queensberry; and therefter appoynts the charter kist to bee sealed by Hamilton of Barincleuch.
The act anent the staple port being reade, the president of the session, Tarbett, Haddo and Sir George Lockhart [and] the commissioners for Aberdeene, Linlithgow, Glasgow and Monros to consider the matter of the staple, and what goods should bee carried to the staple port and what not, and to report.

Ane act brought in discharging the bands granted during the late troubles by persones bearing borrowed money where the soumes were imployed for the use of the publick was reade, and, after debate, resolved that ane clause bee insert therin declaring that those shall only have the benefitt of this act who shall take the Test appoynted by the act of parliament, excepting the representatives of the late lord chancellor who shall not bee holden to take the Test upon this account.
The act concerning the selling of beare and meale by weight being reade, resolved that the act bee extended to all uther grains, viz: wheate, oates, beanes and pease (malt only excepted), and that beefe, mutton, veale, lambe, swynes flesh and uther butcher flesh bee also ordored to bee sold by weight; and lykwayes that breade bee sold by weight.
Ordored that the towne of Linlithgow shall only have the buying and marking of the weights for the victuall and not for the flesh, and that they gett as much for the weight of the victuall as they gett for the rest of the measures.
The petitione of the earle of Wintoun being reade, the first desyre of the petitione anent the disjoyning of Wintoun from Pencatland and annexing the same to Tranent remitted to the commission for valuation of teynds. That desyre of the petitione that the casualties may bee free of publick burthens and the uther anent the revaluation of the lands remitted to the councill.
The petitione of the litsers of Edinburgh ordained to bee given up to the provest of Edinburgh to see and answere.
The laird of MacIntosh, his petitione, granted, and hee appoynted to condescend upon the persones to wherin the commission shall be directed.
The earl of Breadalbine ordained to give answeres to the earle of Caithness, his petitione, in the afternoone, with certification.
The sugarworkes of Glasgow and James Armour, manufactorie of searges de Nime, declaired to bee manufactories upon ther petitiones.
Ordored that ane act be prepared ordaining all commissioners to conventions of burrows to take the Test.
