The parliament, having referied to the lords of the articles to prepare a letter to the king's matie in answer to his gracious letter to them, his royall highnes, his maties commissioner, did nominate the duke of Hamiltoun, the bishop of Edinburgh, Sir George Gordoun of Haddo and the provest of Edinburgh, with his maties advocate, to meete and prepare the draught of that letter, that the same may bee readie to bee brought in to the lords of the articles upon Monday morning before meeting of the parliament.
The act of parliament of the 13th of May 1662 anent the ordering of the parliament house being reade, it was thought fitt by the lords of the articles that it bee offered to the parliament as their opinion that the parliament appoynt that act to bee punctually observed in tyme coming.
There being a petitione given in by Sir William Bruce desyring, on the reasones therin contained, a warrand to the clerke of register to enroll him in the rolls of parliament as commissioner for the shyre of Kinros, hee being elected by the freeholders of that shyre to represent them; which, being reade, Sir William was appoynted to attend the nixt meeting of the articles that hee may bee heard what hee hes to represent in that matter.
His maties advocate having represented to his royall highnes and the lords of the articles that upon information that William Riddell, who was elected a commissioner for the towne of Rutherglen, was accessorie to the late rebellion, hee had called for and examined two persones theranent without oath, whose declarations hee produced and desyred to know what course should bee taken if hee should be warranted to insist against him, and, in the meane tyme, that hee might bee secured. His maties comissioner and the lords of the articles, in regard of the information and evidences against the said William Riddell, gave order to a maiser to secure the said William Riddell prisoner in the tolbuth of Edinburgh till further ordor, and granted warrand to the advocate to proces him.
†The lord archibishop of St Andrewes having overture that ane act might bee prepared for securing the Protestant religion, his maties commissioner did nominate the archibishop of St Andrews, the bishop of Edinburgh, Dunkeld, the earles of Argyle and Pearth, the president of the session, Haddo and Sir George Lockhart, the provests of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Linlithgow, with the officers of estate as supernumerarie, to meete upon Munday nixt and to consider the forsaid overture and to prepare the draught of ane act theranent to bee offered to the articles.
