After prayers said, the rolls were called.
It was moved that before the act of religion or any uther act be brought in to the parliament, the objections may be considered which about fourteen dayes agoe were given in to the comittee for elections against some persones chosen comissioners to represent certain burghes in this parliament as not being residentars in these burghes, and so not qualified conforme to his majesties letter and the act of convention of burrowes, there being twelve or threteine of these persones; and which objection is offered to be provin by their oathes, and so may instantly be discussed by the parliament.
Therefter the act of religion being read, it was desyred by sundrie members that it might be delayed in respect of the importance of the matter and the short tyme they have had to considder the said act. And it being put to the vote if the act should be delayed or not, it was carried in the negative.
The Lord Belheaven, haveing uttered some expressiones wherof notice was taken by divers members, and for which his majesties adcocate declared he wold raise ane indytement against him; and haveing allowed to explaine himselfe, and the same not being satisfactorie, the parliament ordered him to be comitted prisoner to the castell of Edinburgh.
Therefter the act of religion being againe read, and the oath or test being first taken in consideratione and, efter debate, severall amendments made therin, the same was put to the vote and approven by the parliament.
There was ane overtur given in by a member of parliament for another test to be taken, and lykewayes ane overture given in by another member anent the oath of coronatione.
Therefter the act was taken in consideratione, and it was debated if the Test should be put to electors of comissioners for shyres to the parliament; which being put to the vote, it was carried that all persones who vote to the election of comissioners for shyres to the parliament should take the Test. The laird of Saltoun and the laird of Grant haveing voted in the negative, desyred that their dissent might be marked.
The act, being amendit in some particulars, was put to the vote and approven.
The act anent the peace of the countrie and the act anent probative witnesses was touched by his majesties comissioner with the scepter.
His majesties comissioner adjurned the parliament untill Wednesday at ten a clock, and appoynts the articles to meett to morrow at ten a clock.
