Ratification in favours of the universitie of Sainct Andrews

Our soveraigne lord and estates of parliament, presentlie conveend by his majesties' speciall authoritie, have ratified and approven and, be thir presenttis, ratifies and approves ane lettir made and granted be his majestie, undir his highnes['s] great seall, of the dait at Whitehall, the second day of September instant, wherby his majestie hes not onlie ratified and approven the chartors and lettirs particularlie and generallie therinmentioned, maid and granted be his majesties' royall progenitors in favors of the universitie of St Andrews, there rectors, doctors, regents, masters, schollars, burssers, bedells and all other supposts and remanent members therof there lands, tenements, possessions and goods and haill exemptions and priviledges aftirspecified granted to them, bot also hes, of new, taken, accepted and receaved, in all tyme comeing, the said universitie of Sainct Andrews, haill schoolls and colledges therof, there rectors, proveists, principills, doctors, regents, masters, schollars, burssers, beddells and others supposts and haill members of the samyn, with there haill lands, tenements, teinds, anualrents, goods and geir whatsumever, moveable and immoveable, spirituall and temporall, whither within the citie of St Andrews or without the samyn, in any other place elswhere within this kingdome, belonging to them or any of them, undir his majestie and his successors there suire peace, royall mentainance, saiffguard and protectione, and for his highnes and his successors hes of new exempted, liberat, disburdeined and discharged the said universitie and there haill rectors, proveists, principalls, doctors, regents, masters, schollars, burssers, bedells and all other supposts, and haill remanent members therof (wha are not promotted to prelacie), and all and sundrie there saids lands, rents, heriditaments, teynds, anualrents, tenements, possessions, goods and geir whatsumever, als wiel moveable as immoveable, temporall as spirituall, and others whatsumever belonging to them or any of them, from all tolls, tributes, customes, exactiones, taxations, assessments, stents and other impositions whatsumever imposed or to be imposed within this kingdome, and frae all and sundrie watchings, wairdings, levies and others burdings and services whatsumevir, als wiel not named as named, bygain present as to come, and discharged all and sundry his majesties' leidges and subjects, collectors and others concerned, that they nor none of them presume, nor tak upon hand, to trouble nor mollest the said universitie, nore haill members therof forsaids for the tyme, nor their saids lands, hereditaments, tenements, teinds, anualrents, possessiouns, nore other goods nore geir abovewrittine pertaining to them or any of them, for the saids stents, impositions and others above exprest, bygain nore in tyme comeing, nor act nor attempt any thing in the contrair of the forsaids priviledges, undir all heighest payne and charge that aftir may follow, as the said lettir of the dait forsaid, containing ane promeis be his majestie to ratifie the same in parliament, and with a command to the clerk of register and his deputes to extract and give furth ane act theron, as accords, and ane ordinance to pas the great seall per saltum, at mair lenth proportis, in the haill heads, articles, clauses, obleidgments, tennors and contents therof. And his majestie and estates of parliament forsaid, wills and grants and, for them and their successors, decernes and ordaines, that the forsaid generall ratificatione is and shall be als valide, effectuall and sufficient to the said universitie of Sainct Andrews, and haill members therof abovewrittine, and everie ane of them, as if the said lettir aboveratified wer heirin particularlie de verbo in verbum insert and ingrossed; queranent and with all other exceptions or objections that may be moved or alledged against the validitie of the said ratification, his majestie and estates of parliament forsaid, for them and their successors, hes dispensed and, be thir presenttis, dispenses for evir.
