Our soveraign lord and estates of parliament have ratified and approven and, by these presents, ratifies and approves and perpetualy confirms the chartor and infeftment made and granted be his majestie, as king and as prince and steward of Scotland, under his heighnes['s] great seale, to umquhile Hewgh, earle of Eglintoun, lord Montgomery and Kilwening, his airs and assigneys, of all and haill the earledome of Eglintoun, comprehending the lands, lordships, baronies, offices and others particularly and generaly mentioned therintill, to be holden of his majestie, as king and as prince and stewart of Scotland, for payment of the taxt duties therinspecified for the ward, nonentry, releef and mariage, when the samen shall fall, which chartor is of the date at Whytehall, the [...] day of [...] jM vjC and [...] yeers, with the precept and instrument of sasine following therupon; and als, ane other chartor and infeftment granted by his majestie, under his great seale, to the said umquhile Heugh, earle of Eglintoun and his forsaids, of all and haill the citidale of Air, lying neer the burgh of Air, with the magazine housses, kirk and all other houses, biggings, warks, wals, timber, work and stonewark, haven, port and harbory, and haill remanent parts, pendicles and pertinents therof, to be holdin of his majestie, as king of Scotland, and his heighnes['s] successors in free blench ferme, for the yeerly payment of ane penny Scots money, at the feist of Witsonday in name of blench ferme, if it be asked, which chartor is of the date the [...] day of [...] jM vjC and [...] yeers, with the precept and instrument of sasine following therupon; and sicklyk, ane other chartor and infeftment granted by his majestie, as prince and stewart of Scotland, to the deceast Hewgh, earle of Eglintoun and his forsaids, of all and haill the comunty of the Largs, lying within the bailliary of Cuningham and shirrefdom of Air, with free ish and entry therto, to be holdin few of his majestie, as prince and stewart of Scotland, for payment of the fewduties mentioned in the said chartor, which chartor is of the date, the [...] day of [...] jM vjC and [...] yeers, with the precept and instrument of sasine following therupon; and in lykmaner, ane chartor and infeftment granted by his majestie, as king and as prince and stewart of Scotland, under the great seale, to Alexander, now earle of Eglintoun etc., therin designed Alexander, lord Montgomry, and to his aires maill and of tailyie therin mentioned, of all and haill the said earledom of Eglintoun, citidale of Air, comuntie of the Largs and severall other lands therinspecified, and of the lordship of Kilwining, comprehending the lands, ryghts of patronage and others particularly exprest in the said chartor, to be holdin of his majestie, as king and as prince and stewart of Scotland, in few blench and taxt ward respective, for payment of the few blench and taxt ward duties therin rehearsed, in maner as is therin set doune, which chartor is of the date, the tuenty-nynt day of Februar 1669 yeers, with the precept and instrument of sasine following therupon, in all and sundry heids, articles, clausses, tenors, contents and circumstances therof whatsoever; and declars, statuts and ordains that this present general ratification is and shall be als valide, effectuall and sufficient, in all respects, as if the forsaids chartors, precepts and sasins wer at lenth word be word insert in this present act of parliament, dispenseing with the not inserting therof heerin and with all other objections and exceptions whatsoever that may be proponed or alledged against the validity therof. And his majestie, and estates of parliament forsaid, wils, grants, decerns and declairs that the forsaids chartors with the precepts and instruments of sasine following thereupon, and this present ratification thereof, sall be good, valid and sufficient ryghts to the said Alexander, earle of Eglintoun, and his forsaids, to brook, injoy and posses the lands, lordships and others forsaids therincontained, after the forme and tenor of the said chartors in all points, as ther oune propar heretage, in all tyme coming; excepting from this present ratification the clause if any be in the present chartors ratified viz, that it shall be laufull to dispon without hazard of recognition and lykwayes the taxt and releef of the releef if it shall appear that the releef formerly due did exceid the releef as it is taxed.
