Anent the supplication presented unto the king's majestie and estates of parliament be Alexander, lord Saltoun, shewing that wheras the convention of estates in anno 1667, haveing appointed ane valuation of lands and others within this kingdom, and did appoint a preceis day to the comissioners then appointed for the said valuation for closeing the same and the lands of Balveny, within the shirrefdome of Bamf, pertaining to the supplicant, being by the commissioners of the said shirrefdom of Bamf valued at a heigh rate far beyond the just value therof, the supplicant himself, being then absent, had not occasion to give information theranent, wherby the petitioner is heighly prejudged and, therefore, humblie craveing that it might be recomendit to the commissioners for valuation within the shirrefdome of Bamf to rectifie the petitioner in his valuation of the saids lands of Balveny, and to give him ane just and proportionable valuation conforme to his due and just rent, as the said supplication at lenth bears. Which being red and considered, the king's majestie, with advyce and consent of his estates in parliament, recommends to the comissioners for the valuation aforesaid within the shyre of Bamf, to tak tryall of and consider the petitioner's valuation, and if they shall find him overvalued above his due proportion, that they tak some orderly course for rectifieing the same that he bear no greater burden then his due proportion, and that this be done betuixt and the first day of Januar nixt to come.
