Our soverane lord, considering how necessar it is for the encouragement of the tillage of this cuntrey, which is subject to so much toill and expence, though the improvement therof be most advantagious to the whole kingdome, that libertie be granted for the exportation of cornes, after the natives are sufficiently provyded for; therfor the king's majestie, with advice and consent of his estates in parliament, statuts and declares that it shall be lawfull to export cornes of all sorts, when they are under the prices following, at the ports or respective places of exportation viz, ilk boll of wheat under tuelve punds the boll, beir and barley under eight punds the boll, oats and pease under eight merks the boll, notwithstanding of any former acts, lawes or practise to the contrary, they paying the usuall custome and bullion as formerly, with this provision: that when the lords of his majesties' secret counsell shall judge it necessar, for the good of the kingdome and preventing of dearth, they may discharge the exportation of victuall of all sorts for so long time as they shall think fit. As also, for improvement of the pasturage of this kingdome and for encouragement of the breeders of the bestiall thairof, it is statute and ordained, with advice and consent forsaid, that the exportation by sea of all sorts of bestiall, either nolt, sheip or swine and barrelled fleshes of all sort, shall be frie of custome, bullion and all other impositions for the space of nynetein yeers next after the date heirof.
