Ratification in favours of the bishop of Galloway

Our soverane lord, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, ratifies and approves the grant and mortification granted be his majesties' royall father King Charles the first, of ever blessed memorie, under his great seale, in favours of the right reverend father in God Thomas, bishop of Galloway and his successors in the said bishoprick, of the date at St James, the threttein day of May 1637 yeers, wherby his majestie gave, founded and mortified to the said Thomas, bishop of Galloway and to his successours forsaids, all and sindrie the kirks and personage teinds of the paroches and kirks afterspecified, to wit: the kirk of Dumfreis and personage teinds of the paroche therof; the kirk of Dungrie and personage teinds of the paroche of the samen; the kirk of Trailflat and personage teinds of the paroche therof; the kirk of Closeburne and parsonage teinds of the samen, and the kirk of Stablegordoun and personage teinds therof, whilks perteaned of befor to the abbacie of Kelso, and which, with diverse other kirks, wes resigned be the deceast Robert, earle of Roxburgh in his majesties' hands, ad perpetuam remanentiam to be disposed as his majestie thought expedient; together with his majesties' new dissolution of the saids kirks and personage teinds therof fra the said abbacie of Kelso, and surpressing the title and name therof, and uniteing and annexing the samen kirks and teinds to the said bishoprick of Galloway, to remaine with it as ane parte of the patrimonie therof in all tymecomeing. And farder, his majestie, with consent forsaid, ratifies and approves the grant and presentation made and granted be our said soverane lord under his hienes['s] great seale to James, now bishop of Galloway, of the date at Whitehall the fourteinth day of November 1661 yeers, wherby his majestie gave, granted and disponed to and in favors of the said James, now bishop of Galloway, dureing all the dayes of his lifetyme, all and haill the said bishoprick of Galloway, with all and sindrie benefices, lands, lordships, barronies, abacies, kirks, provestries, prebendries, chaplanries, alterages, castells, tours, fortaleices, maner places, houses, bigings, yeards, orchyeards, milnes, multers, woods, salmond fishings and other fishings, annualrents, kirks, teinds of personage and all other teinds, alswell great as small, fewfermes and all other dueties whatsomever, kaines, customes, casualities, superiorities, tennents, tennendries, service of frie tennents and superiorities, of all and sindrie the lands perteaneing to the said bishoprick, with advocation, donation and right of patronage of all kirks, personages, viccarages, chaplanries, prebendries, altarages and all other benefices, alswell spirituall as temporall, whairof the presentations perteaned to the said bishoprick of Galloway in any time bygone, be the first fundation or whilks heirafter wer annexed therto in any maner of way whatsomever, with all and sindrie jurisdictions, superiorities and offices perteaning and belonging to the same in maner exprest and set doun in the said grant and presentation, in the haill heids, articles, clauses and conditions therof, alswell in forme as in mater, and wills and grants, and for his majestie and his hienes['s] successours, decernes and ordeans that this present confirmation is and shall be als sufficient, valeid and effectuall as if the gift forsaid, grant and mortification with the said James, now bishop of Galloway, his presentation abovewritten, had been all word be word ingrossed heirintill; wheranent and all other defects that may be objected against the samen, his majestie, with consent forsaid, hes dispensed and heirby dispenses for ever.
