Edinburgh, 24th November 1660.
David Andersone, compeiring before the laird of Colingtoun and Sir Robert Murrey, provest of Edinburgh, and being interrogat if he was present in the year 1651 when the pamphlet intituled The Causes of God's Wrath was penned, depones he was present the first weeke at the meeting of the confessions of the ministers, but as for the second weeke when The Causes of God's Wrath was drawne up, he does not remember that himself was at that meeting, or does he know who were there. But as for the meetings therefter he depones he saw at severall meetings ane or more the persones following, viz: of ministers: Masters Thomas Ramsay, Samuell Row, Thomas Wyllie, John Nevay, Hary Semple, Patrick Gillespie, Johne Carstaires, James Nasmyth, Frances Aird, Robert Lockhart, William Jack, William Somervell, Allexander Livingstoun, James Donaldsone, Samuell Rutherfuird, James Guthrie, Robert Traill, Johne Stirling, James Symsone, William Oliphant, George Nairne, Gilbert Hall, Alexander Moncreiff, Johne Murray, Alexander Bartane, Hugh Kennedie, Johne Sinclare, John Cleland, Thomas Hog, William Wischart, Robert Rowe; [of] elders: Hiltoune, Greinhead, Dolphingtoune, Sir James Melvill, Colonell Hacket, Lo[rd] Waristoun, Sir Johne Cheislie, Mr Archibald Porteous, Mr Patrick Andersone, Mr George Gray, Mr Andro Hay [and] Colonell Ker. As for Sir James Stewart, I never did see him at any meeting of the Protesters, except only one day in that first weeke of the confessions of the ministers; he being only desyred by the meeting (to my best remembrance) to come and cleir himself before them of that aspersioun was upon him concerning the rotten maill was sent over to Ireland to the shouldiers; and when he cleired himself he left the meeting. This I depone to be of veritie to the best of my knowledge as I shall ansr to God.

The abovewrittin David Andersone being suorne, depones that he thinketh the subscription subjoyned to The Causes of God's Wraith to be Wariestounes hand. As also the subscription to the pass given be Warriestoun to Patrik Eleis as president of the committie of saifty to be his. And adheris to his two former depositions, the one abovewritttin of the 24 of November 1660, and the other daittit 12 September 1660. And depones that in his first deposition ther is a mistak bearing that Mr Gillespie wes clerk all the 14 dayes, wheras now he sayeth that he himself wes only present the first eight dayes, and so cannot depone whither Mr Gillespie wes clerk the whole fournight or not.

Master John Ferrier compearand before the laird of Colingtoun and Sir Robert Moray, lord provost of Edinburgh, and being interrogat who was upon the meeting of the protesting ministers and uthers in the yeir 1651 when the pamphlet intituled The Causes of God's Wrath was penned, depones that he was never present at anie meeting when the said causes were penned, bot depones he saw at some of their meetings at which he was occasionallie for a verie short space the ministers following, viz: Masters John Nevoy, Patrike Gillespie, James Nesmyth, Alexander Livingstoun, Samuell Rutherford, James Guthirie, Robert Traill, John Stirline, James Sympson, John Sinclaire, Thomas Wylie, Samuell Row, and of elders, Dolphintoun, Sir Archibald Johnstoun of Waristoun, Sir John Cheislie [and] Master Androw Hay. This I depone to be of veritie according to the best of my knowledge as I shall ansuer to God.

Mr John Ferrier, suorne, depones that he thinks verrilyke the subscription subjoyned to The Causes of God's Wraith to be Wariestounes hand. As also the subscription to the pass given be Wariestoun to Patrick Eleis as president of the committee of saifty to be his. Depones that Wariestoun commaidit him to tak diverse sheitts of paper to the press, which he thinketh wes The Causes of God's Wraith, and after printing the same, Wariestoun commandit him to delyver certane copies theirof to some protesting ministers. And adheris to his tuo former depositiones, the one abovewrittin of the daitt 24 November 1660, and the other daitted 12 September 1660.

Cristopher Hagens, prenter, of the age of 36th or therby, maried, deponis upon oath that Mr Johne Ferior broght to him the writin copie of that pamplet called The Causes of Godis Wrath, and that Col[onel] Fynick gave him ane verball ordor for prenting therof. And that the said Mr John Ferrior collationed the printed sheits with the written copie and caried both away with him to Edinburgh, bot broght nothing back agane bot the printed copie.
