Forasmuch as it hes pleased God to call from this liffe Robert Dumbar of Westfeild, heretable shirreff of the shirreffdome of Elgin and Forres, and his sonne, to whom the right of that office propperlie belongeth, being a minor and not able at present for the discharge thairof, and Patrick Dumbar of Balnaferrie being uncle and nearest of kin to the young boy who is present shirreff, the king's majestie, with advice of his estats of parliament, doth heirby authorize him and his deputs, for whom he shall be anserable, to exerce and discharge the office of shirreff of Elgin and Forres dureing the minority of Robert Dumbar, his nephew [and] present shirreff, the said Patrick being alwayes comptable to his nephew for the benefite, fies and dewes of the said office.

Our soverane lord and estates of parliament, takeing to their consideration that the toun of Leslie is situat neir the mids or center of the shire of Fyffe, distant sex mylls from any royall burgh and is invironed with landward bounds very populous, and that it will be necessary and convenient for his majesties' subjects and inhabitants of the shire that ther be frie markets or faires holden yeerly at the said toun of Leslie, whairunto all his majesties' leidges may resort for buying and selling of such horse, nolt, sheip and all sorts of merchant commodities whatsoever as shall be broght therto by any persons; therfor, his majestie, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, doth allow to Johne, earle of Rothes, his aires and successours, to have three faires yeerly keept and holden at the said toun of Leslie in maner following, to wit, on upon the Tuisday befor Pasch, the second upon the Thursday befor Witsunday, and the thrid upon the Thursday befor Lambes, each of them to endure the space of tuo dayes, with full power to the said Johne, earle of Rothes, his aires and successours, be themselffs or such as they shall appoint, to collect, gather, intromet with and uplift the tolls, customes, casualities and other dueties of the saids fairs used and wont conforme to the antient customes in lyk caces, and recommends to the lords of his majesties' exchequer to passe ane signatour heirupon in favours of the said Johne, earle of Rothes and his forsaids in due and compitent forme as effeirs.

Our soverane lord and estates of parliament, takeing to their consideration that ther is no burgh nor mercat toun within the paroches of Breymar, Strathdie, Glengarne, Glenmuck, Tullichaboyne, Glentanner, Strathdon, Strathdoun, Migvie, Tarlan and Coldstone wherby the leidges are heaviely prejudged and put to great expences in goeing to mercate touns at a far distance for buying of such necessarie commodities as they stand in neid of, and being informed that the toun of Tulliche lyes in the midle parte of the saids paroches, and is ane fit place for holding of mercats and fairs therin, wherto all his majesties' subjects within these bounds may readily repare with ease to themselffs; thairfor, his majestie, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, doth allow to William Ferquharsone of Inverray, his aires and successors and inhabitants of the said toun of Tullich, to have ane weekly mercat on Tuisday for selling and buyeing of fish, flesh, oxen, sheip, cattell, wheat, meall, malt, bear and all other victuall, cloth, lining and wollen, and other merchant goods, together with tuo frie fairs yeerly each of them the space of four dayes, the one therof upon the first Tuisday of May and the other upon the second Tuisday of September, yeerly in all tyme comeing, with full power to the said William Ferwharsone, his airs and successours be themselffs or such as they shall appoint, to collect, gather, intromet with and uplift the tolls, customes, casualities and all other dewes of the saids mercats and fairs usit and wont, conforme to the antient customes in the lyk caces, and recommends to the lords of his majesties' exchequer to passe ane signatour therupon in favours of the said William Ferwharson and his forsaids, in due and competent forme as effeirs.

Our soverane lord and estates of parliament, takeing to their consideration how necessary and convenient it will be for his majesties' subjects within this kingdome that ther be a frie mercat or fair holden yeerly within the toun of Auld Deir, or a litle above the same, whervnto all his majesties' leidges may resort for buyeing and selling of such horse, nolt, sheip and all sorts of merchant commodities whatsoever as shall be brought therto be any persones; thairfor, his majestie, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, doth allow to William, earle of Marishall, his airs and successors, to have ane frie fair yeerly keept and holden at the said toun of Auld Deir, or a litle above the same, which shall be and begin upon the first Tuissday of July and to continew all that week over, with full power to the said Williame, earle of Marishall, his aires and successours be themselffs or such as they shall appoint, to collect, gather, intromet with and uplift the tolls, customes, casualities and other dues of the saids fairs used and wont, conforme to the antient customes in lyk caces, and recommends to the lords of his majesties' exchequer to passe ane signatour heirupon in favours of the said William, earle of Marishall and his forsaids, in due and compitent forme as effeirs.
