Act in favors of the Lord Angus and Sir Robert Murray anent the prisoners in the Canongait†
At Edinburgh, the tuantie ane day of May jM vjC and fyftie yeires. The estaites of parliament, now presentlie conveined in this fyft sessione of the second trieniall parliament, taking to thair consideratione thes comon souldiors contined in the tuo rolls produced be the magistrats of Edinburgh, with thair depositiones takin be the saids magistratis, the number quherof extends in all to tuo hundreth fourscore one, they have ordeined and ordeines that all thes natives who have wyves and childering, or have old, aiged or decreped and infirme parentis, or are decreped themsellvis, and such as are presentlie seik and infirme (the number quherof they have fund to be about fourtie persones) be presentlie put to libertie and repair to thair severall homes. And as for the whole rest (except Robert Grahme, Inglishman, James Dune and Allexander Grime), the saids estaits of parliament ordeines them to be delyvred to Archibald, lord Angus and Sir Robert Murray to be disposed upoun conforme to the desyr of thair supplicatioune, except tuall men to be chosen furth of them be Ginerall Quartirmaister William Steuart, and sex men be Sir James Hope of Hoptoun. And the saids estaits have dischairged and dischairgis thes prisoneris gifted to the Lord Angus and Sir Robert Murray to returne to this kingdome wnder the paine of death, and hes ordeined the said Lord Angus and Sir Robert Murray that they presentlie intertein them and liberat the saids estaits of thair interteinment and of all bygaines due for thair said interteinment since thair entrie in ward; and ordeines the baillyies of the Cannongait to delyver them this day eftirnoone to the said Lord Angus and Sir Robert Murray, or any having thair warrand, they allwayis satisfying and defraying the chairges as is abovewrittin.
