At Edinburgh, the eighteine day of Maii jM vjC fiftie yeires. The estaittes of parliament now presentlie conveined hes given and granted and be thir presentis gives and grantis full power and commissioun to John, erle of Tuadaille, John, lord Ballmerinoch and Robert, lord Burghlie, Sir James Hope of Hoptoun, knycht, George Hay of Nauchtoun, Robert Hepburne of Kyth, Mr John Hay, Mr Robert Barcklay and Thomas McBurnie, Mr Alexander Colvill of Blair, Mr James Robertoune of Bedlaw, his majesties justice deputtis, with his majesties advoccat, (or any fyve of them as the quorum) to tak in consideratioun all pappers and depositiouns to be given in to them concerning witches and to consider yf the guiltines alledged on thame mereittis ther further tryallis or summer executioun; and give full power and warrand to the lord chancellour, precedent of the parliament, to issue furth commissiones to such persounes as shalbe thought fitt be the said committee, aither to putt the persounes suspect of witchcraft to tryall or, iff they be cleirlie fund guilty be what is procucit against them, to put them to executioune. Edinburgh, 18 Maii 1650

In presence of my Lord Burghley, laird [of] Hoptoun and George Porterfeild and lord advocat, who wer sent from the estates of parliament to examine James Grahame, the said James Graham depones and declares (being interogat) that Generall Ruthven (quhom he designed earle of Crauforde) had a comission from him to be his lieutenent generall in the carieing on of his warre in this kingdome, and that this Duke Hamiltoun was four monethis about the king in comptetition with him for his place of generall, and that ye earle of Callendar was in termes and dealling to be his leiuetenent generall, bot the difference was that the earle of Callendar wold have his comission from the king's majestie and he wold have had Callendar taking his comission from him; and that the Lord Ythan had takin on in the service and was to have comed to this kingdome if he, the said James Graham, had succeidit weill; and that my Lord Sinclar was once in termes with him anent this bissines bot fell aff againe; and that he had severall letteris of freindschip from Seafort and Amisfeild, bot nothing anent the ingadging with him in his bissines.

Ordouris givin to the magistratis of Edinburgh to receive James Grahame from the laird [of] Laweris or his officeris at the water gaitt of the Cannogaitt and thair guardis to stand thair for that effect

18 Maii 1650

The estaittis of parliament ordaines Collonell Cample of Laweris, or any utheris of his officeris commanding in cheif that hes the chairge of the transporting of James Grahame, to delyver the said James Grahame to the toun of Edinburghes guard at the watter gaitt upoun sicht heirof, quhilk guard the saidis estaittis ordaines to await at the said water gait and to ressave the said James from the said Collonell Campbell or his officeris, and to transport him from hence, and to do everie thing conforme to the uther act of parliament daittit the sextein day of Maii instant, quhairanent thir presentis sall be ane sufficient warrant. At Edinburgh, the eightein day of Maii 1650.
