Act in favouris of Mr James Wood†
At Edinburgh, the sevinth day of March the yeare off God jM vjC and fiftie yearis. The estates of parliament, now presentlie conveinit in this fourt sessioune of this second trienniall parliament, takeing to thair consideratioune that Mr James Wood, professour off theologie in the New Colledge of St Androis, is now to repaire to his majestie with the remanent commissiounaris sent to him from this church and state, and that being formerlie imployed in the lyke service, thair was ane act conceaved in his favouris be the estates of parliament upon the fourteine day off March jM vjC fourtie nyne quhairby they declaired that incaice it pleased God to call the said Mr James out of this mortall lyfe before his returne to this kingdome, that then and in that caise his childrein sould have alse full richt to his pairt of the moveabilles quhilkis hes fallin to him throw the deceisse of umquhill Elizabeth Dudingstoun, his mother, albeit the testament be not confirmit, as the said Mr James micht have if hir testament was confirmed and that he war on lyfe, and dispensed with that pairt of the law and practique of this kingdome quhilk upon the supplicantis removeall be death wald seclude his childrein and declaires the forsaid act should not fall undir the compas of the act salvo jure cujuslibet. And now the said Mr James, being imployed in the lyke service, aucht to have the same act renewed, thairfore the saidis estates of parliament have off new againe statute and inactit and declaired that incaice it shall pleas God to call the said Mr James Wood out off this lyfe before his returne to this kingdome, that then and in that caise his childrein shall have alse full right to his pairt off the saidis moveabillis belonging to him throw the deceisse of his said mother as the said Mr James micht have if he was on lyfe, and dispencis with the law and practique of the kingdome quhairby upon the said Mr James, his removeall be death, his childrein micht be secludeit; and sicklyke statutes, inactis and declaires that this present act (quhilk is grantit as the former as a speciall necessar favour to the said Mr James) shall not fall under the compas nor be frusterat or prejudged be the act salvo jure cujuslibet and reneuis the former act to him in the haill heidis, clausses and articles as the same was conceaved.
