The estaits of parliament, presentlie conveined in the fourt sessioun of this second trienniall parliament, having resolved that, in prosecutioun of thair former desyrs, commissiouners sould be sent to his matie, and haveing sufficient proofe and experience of the faithfullnes, good deservings and abilities of the richt honorable Johne, erle of Cassills, Williame, erle of Louthian, Alexander Brodie of that ilk and Mr George Winrahame of Libertoun, tuo of the senators of the colledge of justice, Sir Johne Smith and Alexander Jaffray, doeth thairfoir nominat, appoint, authorize and give power to the foirsaid persouns being all present togidder and to any four of them (bot incaice of seiknes, returne or necessarie absence of the rest, to any thre of them) to repair to the king's matie at Breada or whair he shall happin to be within the United Provincis or thair dominiouns, or to any uther place whair the reformed religioun is professed or tollerated, and thair to treat with his matie upon the grounds of the former desyrs presented to his matie at the Hague be the commissiouners of the parliament of this kingdome according to the Solemne League and Covenant and the instructiouns which are givine or heireftir sall be givine by the parliament or thair committies (not being contrarie to these now givin by this parliament to them) in pursuance of these ends, firm and stable holding whatsumever sall be done by them, conform to the said instructiouns.
