The estaits of parliament, having hard and considerit ane supplicatioun givine in to them be Mr Thomas Gray, provest of Abirdeine, for himselff and in name and behalff of the baillies, counsall and commountie of the said brugh, schewing that quhairas Gilbert Simpsone, sometyme in [...] within the paroschine of Cruden, being apprehendit be Liutenent Generall David Leslie at desyr of the ministers within the diocie of Abirdeine and committid within the tolbuith of Abirdeine quher he presentlie remains for the cruell murthuring and killing of Williame Annan, which Gilbert Simpsoune by all law, equitie and reasone and deservis to be ajudged to death for the said murthering of the said Williame, and in the meane tyme is ane great burding to the said toune of Aberdeine in his mantinance, thairfoir necessar it is that the said estaits of parliament give commissioun and warrand to the shireff of Abirdeine and his deputs within whais jurisdictioun the said cryme wes committit to call ane assyse and proceid and minister justice upon the said Gilbert Simpsone for the said cryme [as] accords of the lawe. Thairfoir humblie supplicating the saids estaits of parliament to grant warrand and commissioune to the said shireff of Abirdeine and his deputs to call and conveine ane assyse and to proceid and minister justice aganis the said Gilbert Simpsone, committer of the said cryme, as accords of the law, as at mair lenth is conteined in the said supplicatioun. Quhilk being takine into consideratioun be the saids estaits of parliament, they have givine and grantit and be thir presents givs and grants full powar and warrand to the said shireff of Abirdein and his deputs to call and conveine befoir them ane assyse and to proceid and minister justice aganis the said Gilbert Simpsone, committer of the said cryme, as accords of the law.

The estaits of parliament, having hard and considderit ane supplicatioun givine in be the generall assemblie, schewing that [as] they are sensible of the conditioune of all these in the land who have suffered for the cause, so they cannot bot in a speciall way tak notice of the afflicted caice of the famellie of Glenurquhie. The saids estaits of parliament doe sufficientlie know what wes thair estaits not long agoe and how low they are now brought and what straits they are redacted unto by the crueltie and violence of enemys becaus of thair constancie and affectioun to the covenant, and it will be a reproach upon the cause and a reall ground of discuragment to others to hazard themselffis and thair estaits for the samyne if they be suffered to perish. Thairfoir seing all of them are bound by the bound of commoune charitie and by the covenant to bear burthen on[e] with another in suffering for the cause, and that it is incumbent to the saidis estaits of parliament in a speciall way to provyd for the comforts and releiff of these who have bestowed themselffis and thair means for the same, thairfoir humblie supplicating the saidis estaits of parliament to tak some speidie and effectuall course for the standing and releiving of that famelie, that they be not crushed undir insupportable burdings, bot finding from the compassioun of the saidis estaits of parliament and thair cair [they] may yet be enabled to be usefull in the publict work and to transmitt thair ancient inheritance to thair posteritie, as the said supplicatioun bears. Quhilk being takine into thair consideratioun be the saidis estaits of parliament, they have recommendit and seriouslie recommends the said supplicatioun with the distrest estait of the supplicant to the committie of moneys, to tak some effectuall course for thair releiff and subsistance.

The estaits of parliament, having hard and considderit ane supplicatioun givin in to them be Duncane Forbes, commissioner for the brugh of Innernes, schewing that quhairas it hes pleasit the saids estaits of parliament to reserve a pairt of the mantinance of the shyr of Innernes to be bestowed upon these who have continowed faithfull and for ther fidelitie have suffered heavilie at the hands of cruell adversaries, and he hops it is knowine to the saidis estaits of parliament what losses he hes susteinit whairof his waistit landis to this day can give testimonie, thairfoir humblie supplicating the saidis estaits that they wold allow him among others takin into consideratioun be the saids estait of parliament a proportionable pairt of that mantinance reservit for the shyr of Innernes, at least tuentie punds monethlie, quhairin as they sall evidence thair favor to one now burdened sore through former sufferings, so sall the said supplicant be incuradgit to goe on in following the cause with all cheirfullnes, as at mair lenth is conteinit in the said supplicatioun. Quhilk being takin into consideratioun be the saids estaits of parliament, they have ordainit and ordanis the committies of war of the shyre of Innernes to allow to the said Duncane Forbes of Culloden retentioun of his awine mantinance payable furth of his landis lyand within the shyr in the first end of what mantinance the parliament hes suspendit to the said shyr, and that fra the first of November nixt and farder ay and quhill the samyne be dischairgit.

The estaits of parliament, hes considering† how necessar it is for strenthing the castell of Edinburgh and good of the kingdome that the utmost fortificatioun of the said castle callit the spure be demolished, smoathed and levelled, they have givin and givs warrand and command to the erle of Levin, lord generall, (to whom is committed the keiping of the said castle) with all dilligence to cause smoath, demolish and levell the said fortificatioun callit the spure, and that his excellence mak use of the stones thairof for repairing of any of the uther walls about the castle; and the rest of them, with the uttir gate and all the pertinents, to give them to the toun of Edinburgh for repairing of any commoune works belonging to the brughs, to the effect the great gate may be imployed about the parliament house for beutifieing the uttir court thairof.
