The estates of parliament, taking into thair consideratioun the suplicatioun givin in to them be the presbitrie of Stranaver, shewing that quhair the commissiouners appointit by the parliament for distributing of the tuo hundreth thousand pundis starling that came doune from Londone to the army, with the advyse of the generall persouns of the army, being authorized to give a proportionable share to widows and orphans of the dead souldiours, haif thought fitt to nominat and appoint the soume of thrie hundreth and fiftie pund starling to be devydit amongest the widows, orphans and lame souldiours within the province of Galloway, and the said soume to be delyverit to the commissiouners from that province to the parliament, as the act maid at Alnick, the sext of Februarii 1647 at mair lenth beirs; which act is ratefied and approvine in parliament wpon the sevinteine day of Februarii 1647. Yit notwitstanding of all the dilligence wsit by them, alseweill in collecting and giving wp the nams of these that should receave the saids moneys according to the act of parliament as in requyring of the commissioners for distributing of the same, the widows, orphans and lame souldiours within the said bounds have nevir as yit receavit [any] thing of the said soume to suplie thair great necessitie. Thairfoir humblie suplicating that the saids estaits of parliament wold be pleasit to tak the premises to thair consideratioun and to call the present commissioners to give ane accompt theranent, that such speidie ordor may be takine heirintill as the foirsaids persouns to whom the foirsaid soume aucht to be distributed and givin may in this so strait a tyme be releaved by the saids estaits goodnes, as at mair lenth is conteinit in the said suplicatioun. Quhilk being takin to consideratioun be the saids estaits of parliament, they have ordained and ordanis the officers and commanders of the troupes of horse and companys of foot to raise the said troups for assistance of the committies of war of the shyrs of Wigtoun and Kirkcudbricht and quarter the samyne wpon such persouns as shall be knowin to have in thair handis the foirsaid soume of thrie hundreth and fiftie pund starling ay and whill payment be maid thairof to the said committies of war to be devydit amongst the widows, orphans and lame souldiours in the province of Galloway.
