The estaits of parliament, taking into thair consideratioun ane suplicatioun givin in to them be Elizabeth Blyth, relict of umquhill James King, merchand in Glasgow, Margrat King, thair laufull dochter, and Williame Wallace, burges of Paislay, now spous to the said Elizabeth for his intres, [shewing] that quher the said wmquhile James King, having furnist to the Scottis army in Irland be ordor of Generall Major Monro so much quantitie of wheit as amonted to the soume of thrie hundreth thrie scoir sevinteine pundis, eight shilling starling money, and having suplicat the committie of estaits thairanen[t] in Mairch 1644 yeirs, they fand it just and reassonable that he sould be satisfied thairof out of the first end of the arreirs dew be the kingdome of England to the Scottis army in Irland, and incaice he sould not have bein satisfied that way, the samyne sould be ane publict debt of this kingdome, and the estaits therof and thair committies wold be cairfull to sie the samyne payit accordinglie, as the saidis estaits, thair act maid thairanent mair fullie proportis. Lykas be ane suplicatioune givin in be the said James King to the committie of estaits upon the tuelff day of Februarii 1645 yeirs, declairing and shawing to thame the hard estait he than wes in be reasoune of the burdings contractit be him and that his creditors wold surlie imprisone his persone and uttirlie wndoe him, the said committie then fand his desyr just and the debt instructed be the act foirsaid, and thairfoir represented the samyne to the parliament to be grantit as they think fitt, as the said suplicatioun and signature writtin wpon the margiane thairof producit with the said suplicatioun beirs. And sieing that it pleasit the Almightie immediatlie thaireftir within the space of fyve weiks to call the said James out of this mortall lyff and that shoe and hir said spous hes still sensyne bein in great distres and brought thameselffis to a verie low estait be satling and paying of his creditors of thair just debtis upon hopis and expectatioun that the saidis estaits wold have, eftir so long tyme, satisfied them of the foirsaid soume and anuell rent sensyne dew thairfoir, they having no uther means how to subsist and leive, thairfoir humblie suplicating the saids estaits of parliament to tak the premises to thair consideratioun and to be pleised to give sure ordor and warrand to the receavers of the publict rents and revenues as they may be payit of the soume foirsaid dew to them as said is and of the anuellrent therof sensyne, as the said suplicatioun mair fullie proportis. Quhilk, with the report of the committie of bills theranent, being takine into consideratioun be the saids estaits of parliament, they have recommendit and recommendis the suplicant to the committie of moneys to tak some effectuall course for payment of the soume of thrie hundreth thrie scoir fourteine† pundis eight shillings starling money.
