[Declaration in favour of the earl of Erroll concerning his right to the estate of William Hay of Delgatie]

Declaration in favour of [Gilbert Hay], earl of Erroll anent the estate of Delgatie

Edinburgh, 31 May 1650

The estates of parliament, having taken into their consideration that William Hay of Delgatie, being formerly forfeited in the year 1645 and being now taken in the late invasion, the doom and sentence of forfeiture is to be pronounced against him and put to execution, and withal considering that Gilbert, earl of Erroll, as a lawful creditor to him in various considerable sums of money, who has acquired the right and possession of his lands and other estate belonging to him, therefore they have declared and by this document declare that the aforesaid sentence of forfeiture and execution to follow thereupon shall in no way be prejudicial to the said earl of Erroll of his right and possession of the lands and estate belonging to the said William Hay of Delgatie, but that the same shall stand in the full force notwithstanding thereof.
