Order: for the distribution of the troops; appointment of Colonel Ludovic Leslie
Ordinance anent the marching of the forces and appointing Ludovic Leslie to be colonel in place of Colonel William Stewart

The estates of parliament, upon consideration of the report of the grand committee concerning the particulars after-mentioned, ordain such of the new modelled troops as are taken out of the regiments within this kingdom forthwith to march northward toward Montrose, Aberdeen or elsewhere the general officers shall think fit for the good of the service, and for the rest of the troops of the new model the estates ordain them to keep rendezvous at Montrose upon 10 March next (unless with the advice of the general officers it shall be thought fit that some stay in the south); and in the meantime such of them as the general officers shall think fit may have leaves of absence for visiting their friends, they keeping the rendezvous aforesaid and all of them paying for what they get; and also the estates do hereby ordain and command [Colonel Alexander Hamilton], general of artillery's regiment presently to march northward, and ordain and appoint these regiments of foot made up out of the army in England to keep rendezvous at Montrose the said 10 March next, and that such thereof as the general officers shall think fit may in the meantime have leaves of absence for visiting their friends, they giving their oaths before receiving their leaves of absence and keeping the day of rendezvous aforesaid; and the estates ordain colours to be made and provided for the said regiments again at the day of rendezvous aforesaid. As also the estates ordain that such regiments and troops as are not ordained presently to march be quartered until their march to the rendezvous aforesaid in the shires of Linlithgow, Stirling, Clackmannan, Fife and Perth, and recommend to the general officers to be careful that none lie quartered in Perthshire or Stirlingshire so far as possibly they can. And likewise the estates, taking into their consideration that article of the report of the grand committee bearing that Colonel Stewart, being heard anent his acceptance of the charge laid on him by the parliament, did express a great deal of willingness to serve the country, but in regard of his infirmity and weakness of body for this service he declines to accept, the said estates do therefore nominate, elect and choose Ludovic Leslie to be colonel in place of Colonel William Stewart to that regiment to which the said Colonel William Stewart was formerly appointed by the act of parliament anent the new modelled forces, and ordain the said Colonel Ludovic Leslie to be in that same place and condition for all fees, casualties, privileges and dignities belonging to that charge as if he had been first nominated and appointed thereto.

Legislation
Act appointing Sir John Wemyss [of Bogie] to be commissary-general

The estates of parliament, having taken into their consideration the report of the grand committee concerning the great obstruction found by them in their procedure and taking course for providing of magazines of victual by the want of a commissary-general, and finding [Sir Adam Hepburn of] Humbie altogether unwilling to accept that charge, and herewith also considering and having real proof and experience of the affection and fidelity of Sir John Wemyss of Bogie and of his abilities to exercise and discharge the office and place of treasurer of the army and commissary-general of the kingdom, the said estates of parliament did therefore unanimously, after voicing, nominate, elect and choose the said Sir John Wemyss of Bogie, knight, to the aforesaid place and office to be treasurer of the army and to be commissary-general of the whole kingdom and of all the forces, armies, regiments and companies levied or to be levied and employed within the same, with all privileges, honours, fees and casualties belonging thereto, with power to him to nominate and constitute deputes, one or more, to serve in the said place. And ordain [Sir Alexander Gibson of Durie], clerk register, to draw up a commission in favour of the said Sir John Wemyss to the aforesaid place and office.
