Act officers of [John Kennedy], earl of Cassilis' regiment

The estates of parliament, having heard and considered the petition of the officers of the earl of Cassilis' regiment bearing that the burgh of Glasgow, by an order of the committee of estates, was ordained to advance to Lieutenant General Baillie's regiment and the supplicants' regiment the sum of 10,000 merks, whereof the town has paid to Lieutenant General Baillie's regiment 6,000 merks for their proportional part thereof, but the town has altogether neglected their payment to the earl of Cassilis' regiment of their proportional part of 4,000 merks, except only 1,000 merks of the same. And by another order of the aforesaid committee there were quarters appointed for 15 baggage horse and the same allowance for the earl of Cassilis' regiment in their quarters as Lieutenant General Baillie's had, whereof the supplicants have received no satisfaction for the said baggage horse as the other regiment did. And therefore desiring that the parliament would grant a new order to the burgh of Glasgow for payment to the supplicants of the sum of 3,000 merks yet resting unpaid of the 4,000 merks due to them as their proportional part of the 10,000 merks above-specified; as also for payment to the supplicants of the aforesaid allowance that was granted for their said baggage horse for times bygone, according to the aforesaid order and as the other regiment who were quartered with the supplicants have already received, as the supplication bears. The said estates of parliament ordain the town of Glasgow and magistrates thereof to make payment to the said officers of the earl of Cassilis' regiment of the aforesaid sum of 3,000 merks yet unpaid to them of the 4,000 merks due to them as their proportional part of the 10,000 merks above-specified, according to the order of the committee of estates above-mentioned granted in favour of the earl of Cassilis' regiment and of Lieutenant General Baillie's regiment, and whereof that regiment has received 6,000 merks as their proportional part of the 10,000 merks and the supplicants have only received 1,000 merks of their 4,000 merks thereof, so that there rests yet to the supplicants 3,000 merks. As also ordain the town of Glasgow and magistrates thereof to make payment to the supplicants of the aforesaid allowance granted to them for their said baggage horse for times bygone, according to the aforesaid orders of the committee of estates granted in favour of the earl of Cassilis' regiment and of Lieutenant General Baillie's regiment for the aforesaid sum of 10,000 merks and baggage horse respectively aforesaid, which orders and warrants the estates of parliament hereby renew to the supplicants to the effect before ordained, according to the tenors thereof.
