Order: for the replacement of the commissioner of parliament for Edinburgh
Order of parliament concerning the town of Edinburgh's supplication

The supplication presented to the parliament by the magistrates of Edinburgh, desiring the parliament to admit Archibald Sydserf, merchant, and John Scott, goldsmith, commissioners for the town to this parliament in place of Edward Edgar, who is employed as one in that commission to Newcastle, and in place of David Douglas, who is necessitated to go there for his own private affairs, being read in audience of the parliament, and it being questioned whether the parliament should go to the debate of the supplication or give allowance to Edward Edgar to stay at home notwithstanding of his former nomination to go to Newcastle as one of the commissioners for the burghs to desire his majesty's assent to the propositions, and the question to be taken in general anent all members of parliament of commissioners of barons and burghs if upon the employment in the public service or any other necessary cause of absence the shire or burgh may offer others in their place during that session of parliament, the estates of parliament all in one voice gave allowance to the said Edward Edgar to remain at home, and that the parliament will take into consideration if when commissioners of barons and burghs are employed in the public service or any other necessary cause of absence the shire or burgh may offer others in their place during that session of parliament.
