Act in favour of [James Campbell], laird of Lawers and his regiment

The estates of parliament, having considered the supplication of James Campbell of Lawers, for himself and his late father's regiment and troop, craving payment of the bygone arrears due to him and them and that he might be placed colonel to his late father's regiment in Ireland and rutmaster to his horse troop in England and put in possession of both, as the supplication bears, they ordain [Sir Adam Hepburn of Humbie], commissary-general within the kingdom of Scotland, and commissary-general with the Scottish army in Ireland, to account with the supplicant for the whole arrears due to the late Sir Mungo Campbell of Lawers, his father, both as colonel of his regiment in Ireland and as rutmaster of a troop of horse, and also for the whole arrears of the said regiment and troop due to them since their first going to Ireland that it may be constant what arrears are due and resting unpaid to them, and thereafter to make report thereof to the parliament or committee of parliament that some effectual way may be thought upon and set down for payment thereof. And also the estates recommend to [Alexander Leslie], earl of Leven, lord general, and to [William Kerr], earl of Lothian, lieutenant general of the army in Ireland respectively, to grant commission to the said James Campbell now of Lawers to be colonel and rutmaster respectively of his late father's regiment and of the troop of horse above-written and accordingly to put him in possession of both.
