Procedure: opening of session

To the which day this fifth session of the first triennial parliament was continued by the last act of the fourth session thereof, dated 7 August 1645, and the estates thereby ordained to meet and convene in parliament this 26 November 1645.

The third parliament, and the fifth session of the same, of the most excellent prince Charles, by the grace of God, king of Scotland, England, France and Ireland and defender of the faith, held at St Andrews by the estates of this kingdom, namely: the noblemen, the commissioners for the barons and the commissioners for the burghs convened in the aforesaid fifth session of this first triennial parliament by virtue of the last act of the last parliament held by his majesty and three estates in 1641. [William Keith], earl Marischal, one of the officers of parliament present; [Frederick Lyon], laird of Brigton present for [Gilbert Hay], earl of Erroll, constable.
