The estates of parliament, presently convened by virtue of the last act of the last parliament held by his majesty and three estates in 1641, ratify and approve a charter and infeftment under the great seal granted by his majesty to Mr Alexander Colville, doctor of divinity in the university of St Andrews, eldest lawful son to John Colville of Wester Comrie, his heirs and assignees whatsoever heritably and irredeemably, without any reversion, redemption or regress, of all and sundry the lands of Lurg and Kincardine, with the pertinents, and of all and sundry these 17 acres of land lying upon the east and north parts of the town of Culross, with the pertinents designed and occupied in manner specified in the said charter, together with the teinds of the said whole lands and acres including salt-pans, coals and coalworks thereof, with the feu ferms, tenants, tenancies, service of free tenants and whole pertinents of the same lying within the sheriffdom of Perth, and also of all and whole the lands of Wester Comrie, with the manor place, coals and coalworks of the same, yards, orchards, tofts, crofts, woods, parts, pendicles and all their pertinents, with the teind sheaves of the same and of 11 poultry and of a wether owing out of the said lands, and of all and whole the two yards, with the houses, mansion and closes contained in the said charter, proceeding upon the resignation of the said John Colville, his father, containing a gift of novodamus, to be held of his majesty and his successors in manner contained in the said infeftment, which charter is dated at Edinburgh, 8 March 1642, with three several charters and infeftments granted under the great seal by the late King James, his majesty's father of happy memory, to the said John Colville, father to the said Mr Alexander, his heirs and assignees specified therein of the said lands, teinds, salt-pans, coals, coalworks and others above-specified expressed therein, one whereof is dated at Falkland, 18 September 1587, the other dated at Holyroodhouse, 20 March 1587, and the third dated at Holyroodhouse, 22 December 1591, with an act of parliament made by his majesty's said late dearest father and estates thereof upon 5 June 1592, ratifying two of the said infeftments above-written, the one at Falkland, 18 September 1587, and the other at Holyroodhouse, the said 22 December 1591, with the precepts and instruments of sasine following upon the said whole charters and every one of them, with the procurators and instruments of resignation whereupon the same proceeded, with a charter of confirmation under the great seal, of the date 6 March 1586, confirming two charters, one of the lands of Wester Comrie to Nicolas Dundas and the other to John Colville of some tenements and small plots of ground specified, with another charter granted to the said John Colville by the late James [Colville], lord Colville of the said lands of Wester Comrie, dated 7 February 1612, together with all other charters, infeftments, sasines and other rights and securities made to the said Mr Alexander Colville or his father or any others of his predecessors of the said lands and others above-written in the whole heads, clauses, articles, conditions and circumstances contained therein, after the forms and tenors thereof, and will and grant this present ratification of the said charters and infeftments specially and generally above-specified shall be as valid and effectual as if the same and whole tenors thereof were herein word by word at length inserted and ratified notwithstanding the same are not expressly inserted, with the which the estates aforesaid dispense. And further the said estates of parliament have dissolved and by this act dissolve all and sundry of the said lands, teinds and others aforesaid from his majesty's crown and from all acts of annexation of lands and superiorities to the crown so far as the same may appear to comprehend the lands, teinds and others aforesaid, to the effect the said Mr Alexander Colville, his heirs, assignees and successors may hold, enjoy and possess the said lands, teinds with feu ferms, tenants, tenancies, superiorities and others above-specified as their own free heritage in all time coming, to be held of his majesty and his successors in blench and feu ferms respectively for payment of the blench and feu duties contained in the infeftments above-written granted to the said Mr Alexander and his predecessors aforesaid, and, if need be, ordain a new infeftment to be passed and issued to the said Mr Alexander and his aforesaids of the premises with all clauses needful, to be held of his majesty and his successors in manner above-specified.
