The estates of parliament, now presently convened by virtue of the last act of the last parliament held by his majesty and the three estates in 1641, having taken into their consideration the procedure and deportment of John, lord Balmerino in the discharge of the place of president in the last parliament, they find that he has worthily, faithfully and in every way commendably acquitted himself in that charge and expressed in that particular matter all the inducements and qualities required for that eminent place to the full satisfaction of the whole estates of parliament. And therefore they have not only exonerated and discharged him of his carriage and service in the said place, but likewise they do approve his whole deportment in that particular matter, and deservedly give him this just testimony: that in all things incumbent to that charge, he behaved himself as becomes a worthy patriot, meriting public thanks from the whole body of this kingdom.
