The convention ordains that whenever any of the regiments or any part thereof shall be brought together to be mustered, that the musters thereof be received upon the oath of the captains or other officers that shall command them for the time; and being thus mustered and sent to their quarters, recommend to [John Campbell, earl of Loudoun], lord chancellor, or any noblemen that is on the committee, to appoint some honest men in the parishes where they are to be quartered to take trial if they be quartered according to the said roll, and to report upon oath a particular account of the roll of their quarters and the time of their several entries thereto, that they may be paid accordingly; and this form to stand until the committee that goes with the army and general officers meet and think upon some solid course for mustering of the army.
