The convention of estates give hereby power to the committee appointed for trial of the information given in against the earls [John Stewart, earl of] Traquair and [Robert Dalzell, earl of] Carnwath to delegate such of their number or others as they shall think fit to examine such persons as they have occasion to make use of as witnesses in that matter and are not presently in town.
