The viscount of Arbuthnott protested that the ranking and calling of [James Scrimgeour, viscount of] Dudhope before him in this convention should be without prejudice of his right and precedence before him; and the viscount of Dudhope protested in the contrary in respect of the date of his patent and act of council following thereupon.
