Supplication by [John Campbell], lord Loudoun, craving exoneration of his commission for negotiation of the treaty and an approbation of his service, read in audience of his majesty and parliament, who (after that his majesty and diverse of all estates had given public testimony of his care, diligence, fidelity and wisdom in managing this great business) grant the desire of the supplication, and according thereto most unanimously granted the exoneration therein mentioned, which, with an ample recommendation of his service, ordain to be drawn up and enlarged under form of act of parliament. [Charles Seton], earl of Dunfermline repeated the desire of the supplication. [John Lindsay], lord Lindsay† and [Sir Alexander Gibson of] Durie, tutors to [John Leslie], earl of Rothes, repeated the like desire for exoneration and approbation of the late Earl of Rothes's carriage and service. Appoints the clerk to draw up an act of exoneration and approbation of all the three noblemen their carriage and service against tomorrow.
It being proposed and questioned whether the approbation of his majesty's nomination of [John Campbell], lord Loudoun to be treasurer shall be voted this night or not, and it was resolved negative upon the question.
