[Supplications read and approved; report from the committee regarding the distressed ministers in the north read and commission granted]

The king being present.

Supplication by [John Turnbull], laird of Minto, craving that the king's majesty and parliament would give warrant to [Sir James Carmichael], treasurer depute, and lords of exchequer to pass the gift of his ward and marriage freely, read and granted because his father died in the public service.

Supplication by [Alexander] Ramsay of Ballinbreich, craving the gift of bastardy of James Ramsay, his brother natural, who was killed at Newburn and that the same may be passed freely, read and granted.

Regarding the report made by the committee for the ministers of the north, the king's majesty, with advice of the estates of parliament, grants commission to [John Erskine], earl of Mar, [John Kennedy, earl of] Cassilis, [George MacKenzie, earl of] Seaforth, [William Kerr, earl of] Lothian for the nobility; [Sir Gilbert Ramsay], laird of Balmain, [Sir Alexander Abercrombie of] Birkenbog, [Sir Robert Innes of] Innes and [William Rigg of] Aithernie for the barons; [Patrick Leslie], the commissioner of Aberdeen, [John Semple of Stainflett, commissioner for] Dumbarton, [Master Alexander Douglas of Downies, commissioner for] Banff and [Thomas MacCulloch, commissioner for] Tain for the burghs, or any seven of them, to call the parties complained upon before them, to hear if they have any reasonable cause to allege why they ought not to find caution, to refund the losses contained in the ministers' complaints and acclaimed by them after trial. And in the meantime grants warrant to a macer to warn the said parties to compear before the said committee tomorrow at 7 o'clock in the morning in the parliament house, and ordains the ministers to give a copy of their claims to the parties.
