Protestation of [John Maitland], earl of Lauderdale against the town of Musselburgh's ratification

In presence of the king's majesty and estates of parliament John, earl of Lauderdale, being personally present, protested that the ratification granted in this present parliament in favour of the town of Musselburgh of their rights and infeftments mentioned therein should be always without prejudice to him and his successors regarding the rights, privileges and infeftments granted to him, his predecessors and authors regarding his and their infeftments, rights, jurisdictions, privileges and others contained therein; and thereupon asked instruments.
