Ratification in favour of [Patrick Maule], laird of Panmure of his infeftment of the lordship of Brechin and Navar

Our sovereign lord and estates of parliament ratify and approve the charter and infeftment granted by his majesty to his majesty's daily servant, Patrick Maule of Panmure, his heirs and assignees contained therein, of all and whole the lordship of Brechin and Navar, with the heritable offices of the constabulary of Brechin and heritable justiciary within the said lordship, to be held of his majesty in feu ferm in manner therein contained, which is of the date the [...] day of [...] 163[...]; together with the right and privilege yearly of election of one of the bailies of the city and town of Brechin, with the contract and appointment made between the bailies and council of Brechin, with advice and consent of Master Walter Whitford, bishop of Brechin, and the said Master Walter for himself on the one part, and the said Patrick Maule of Panmure on the other part, ratifying and approving the said right and privilege of the yearly nomination and election of one of the bailies of the said city of Brechin by the said Patrick, his heirs and successors, which is of the date the [...] day of [...] 16[...], in the whole heads and articles of the said infeftment and contract respectively; and find and declare that the said Patrick and his foresaids have good and undoubted right by virtue of his rights above-specified in and to the said lordship of Brechin and Navar, with the said heritable offices of the constabulary and justiciary of the said lordship of Brechin and to the nomination and election of one of the bailies of the said city of Brechin yearly in all time coming. And also his majesty and estates of parliament ratify and approve the charter and infeftment granted by his majesty to the said Patrick Maule in liferent and to Harry Maule, his second son, his heirs and assignees, of the lands and barony of Balmakelly comprehending the particular lands, mills, multures and advocation of the chaplainries contained therein, to be held of his majesty in free blench, notwithstanding a part thereof held ward of before in manner contained in the said infeftment, which is of the date 8 January 1639, and find and declare that this present ratification shall be as valid and effectual to the said Patrick, his heirs and assignees for the said lordship of Brechin and Navar, with the heritable offices above-specified and right of nomination and election of the said bailie of Brechin, and to the said Patrick in liferent and to the said Harry Maule and his foresaids heritably for the said lands and barony of Balmakelly and every part thereof, as if the said infeftments, contract and rights above-specified were herein inserted expressly.
