Ordinance concerning the macers of council and session

The which day the estates of parliament, having taken to their consideration the mutual supplications given in to the parliament from [William Keith], earl Marischal and from the macers of council and session regarding their liberty of staying within the house of parliament, with the whole reasons given in henceforth for the same, and having heard the macers in one voice, the said estates ordain the macers to stay without the doors of the parliament house and attend there until they be called in to receive their directions from [John Elphinstone, lord Balmerino], president, or clerks, and allow the Earl Marischal only to have a servant within the house who shall call in the macers by direction, and appoint the macers only to attend all committees but not the Earl Marischal's servants.
