Procedure: ordinances
Ordinance of parliament in favour of [Anna Wemyss], my lady Stormont

The which day the supplication given in by my Lady Stormont to the parliament, desiring liberty to the lords of exchequer to pass the signature of her conjunct fee lands, being read in audience of parliament, the estates of parliament grant the desire above-written of the said supplication, with provision the same be not prejudicial to any who has been employed in the army or public affairs.

Ordinance of parliament in favour of the Laird of Orrock

The which day the estates of parliament, having read and considered the supplication given in to them by the Laird of Orrock, desiring that a gift of his ward and marriage granted to Dame Marjorie Young in his prejudice may not pass in exchequer for the reasons contained in his supplication, the said estates of parliament discharge the lords of exchequer to pass the foresaid gift until the party be heard before the parliament and called thereto.

Ordinance of parliament in favour of [John Blair], laird of Blair, [the Laird of] Caldwell and [Sir William Cunningham of] Cunninghamhead

The which day the three supplications given in to the parliament by the Laird of Blair, the Laird of Caldwell and the Laird of Cunninghamhead, craving that the gifts of their wards and marriages may be passed freely in favour of the supplicants, in respect their fathers and others respectively contained in their supplications by whose decease their wards and marriages fall, died or contracted their ailment, whereof they died in the public service of the country and good cause, being read in audience of the parliament, the estates of parliament find the desires thereof reasonable, and out of certain knowledge that the supplicants' fathers died or contracted ailment whereof they died in the public service of the country and good cause, the said estates appoint [Sir James Carmichael], treasurer depute, and lords of exchequer to pass the said three gifts of the said supplicants, their wards and marriages respectively and that freely without any composition.

Warrant: for the sitting of the exchequer
Warrant by the parliament to the exchequer for the sitting thereof

The which day the supplication given in to the parliament by [Sir James Carmichael], treasurer depute, and lords of exchequer, desiring liberty to hold exchequer for receiving the king's rents and passing signatures, being read in audience of the parliament, the estates of parliament dispense with the sitting of the exchequer for receiving his majesty's rents which are voluntarily paid without compulsitor, and also upon passing signatures upon the conditions following, namely: providing that no signatures be passed in the name or to the benefit of any persons cited to the parliament and that no signature shall be prejudicial to any party who has been employed in the army or service of the public affairs, and also that no signatures be passed which bear to be granted with consent of [John Stewart], earl of Traquair, treasurer, or are docked and subscribed with his hand since he was commissioner to the parliament before the said signatures be represented in parliament, without prejudice always of those signatures which are passed the exchequer before the date of this warrant, to which this present ordinance shall in no way be prejudicial, albeit the same bear to be granted with consent of the said Earl of Traquair or docked with his hand.

Procedure: ordinance regarding the supplications of the constable and town of Edinburgh
Ordinance of parliament regarding the supplications given in by the constable and town of Edinburgh

The which day the supplication given in by [Gilbert Hay], earl of Erroll, craving warrant to the provost and bailies of Edinburgh to exhibit Master Thomas Lamb before him or his deputes to be judged in his courts as constable for the slaughter contained in the supplication, together also with the remonstrance exhibited by him for that effect, being read in audience of the estates of parliament, the said estates ordain the provost and bailies of Edinburgh to exhibit the said Master Thomas Lamb, delinquent, before the constable or his deputes, one or more, to the effect contained in the said supplication, without prejudice always to the Earl of Erroll or town of Edinburgh their rights or privileges as by law, and ordain the clerk to deliver to either party the duplicate of the foresaid supplication, with the deliverance thereof foresaid, together with the duplicate of the remonstrance therewith exhibited by the Earl of Erroll and subscribed by the clerk.

Procedure: commission to the Earl of Galloway
Commission by the parliament to [Alexander Stewart], earl of Galloway for apprehending Thomas MacKie

The which day the supplication from the presbytery of Wigtown to the general assembly, craving that Thomas MacKie, notary, might be apprehended for some notorious offences therein contained, being represented from the assembly to the parliament and their civil power craved therein, and being read in audience of the parliament, the estates of parliament have given and granted and give and grant full power and commission to Alexander, earl of Galloway, or any others whom he shall appoint, to search, seek, take and apprehend the said Thomas MacKie and to stop and present him before the parliament between now and this day 15 days, between now and the which time the said estates ordain the said Alexander, earl of Galloway, or any others whom he shall appoint in the execution of this commission, to bring and produce the said Thomas MacKie before the estates of parliament, that they may thereafter take such further course relating thereto as they after trial and consideration of the business shall think expedient; and ordain the commission to be subscribed by [Robert Balfour, lord Balfour of Burleigh], president of the parliament.

Procedure: dispensation to the sheriff of Perth
Dispensation to the sheriff of Perth

The which day the supplication given in to the parliament by the sheriff of the sheriffdom of Perth, craving dispensation to hold courts, being read and considered by the estates of parliament, they grant the foresaid dispensation to the said sheriff of Perth and his deputes to 15 September next inclusive.
