Appoints the committee for the north to meet and make their report.
Sir William Stewart, compearing personally in presence of [John Stewart, earl of Traquair], the commissioner's grace, and lords of articles, desired that his grace and estates would take into their consideration the constant tenor of his unspotted reputation, which† now is most unjustly tarnished by some untrue aspersions regarding the late taking of the castle of Dumbarton, from the which his honour ought to be vindicated and he to be declared free of a disloyal act or malversation therein, and all his carriage in that particular to be declared honest and creditable. And in case any man will challenge him regarding this, he offered himself to all legal trial and hereupon asked instruments.
Act regarding† apparel read, voted and passed in articles.
Ratification to [Sir Ludovic Houston], laird of Houston.
Act regarding the discussing of heirs of line, male and provision read and refused.
The two supplications presented by Captain Alexander Muir, the one against [George MacKenzie], earl of Seaforth and the other against [Alexander Stewart], earl of Galloway, appoint the same to be shown to the said noblemen parties.
Supplication by Isobel Hatley read in articles, who remit the same to the lords of secret council that they may grant a recommendation to the moderators of the presbyteries of East and West Lothian for procuring a charitable supply to the supplicant. And in the meantime appoint Master Robert Barclay to collect some contribution for the supplicant from the lords of articles and parliament.
Regarding the settling the peace of the country and taking order with broken men, appoints the noblemen and barons to name some of their number to attend [John Stewart, earl of Traquair], the commissioner's grace, in the abbey at 4 o'clock after noon, to speak with his grace regarding this.
Ratification to James Dunbar of an act of adjournal.
Ratification to the tailors of Edinburgh being read in articles and [Sir George Towers], laird of Inverleith being heard, it is found that the same cannot impede the tradesmen dwelling in the burghs of barony to exercise their trade within their burghs of barony and outwith the liberties of Edinburgh, but that the said tradesmen shall have no power or liberty to work within the liberties of Edinburgh. And also it is declared that the letters of horning to be directed against the transgressors of the act shall not be directed against the magistrates, but it is ordained that every year the magistrate at his entry shall give direction to the officiary to assist the bailies in execution of the act; and in case they be found negligent, to complain to the council, who shall take order with the magistrate for redress thereof. And also it is declared that noblemen, councillors, lords of session and prime barons are excepted out of this act who have servants of their own that are tailors for their own use only.

Ratification to the weavers of their seal of cause delivered to John Smith [of Grotehill], to be advised with the provost and bailies of Edinburgh until tomorrow at 8 o'clock with their whole writs produced.
Regarding the act of pacification, appoints some noblemen to attend [John Stewart, earl of Traquair], the lord commissioner's grace, to speak relating thereto with his grace upon the doubts which may result thereupon, and specially that the restitution of goods may be general to all his majesty's good subjects whatsoever without limitation. Next, that the commission have not absolute power to reject or admit, but be tied to give sentence to all complainers proving their complaint or otherwise the plaintiff may seek redress before the judge ordinary. And these doubts only proposed by the commissioner's grace regarding the statutory part, for his grace declared that he will be heard upon the narrative to declare his reasons for rectifying thereof, or to propose further doubts against the statutory part as they occur to him.
