The supplication from the vassals of Dalkeith craving that vassals holding of the king some small feus or portion of lands may have ease in passing their infeftments through the seals and some course taken relating thereto, [John Stewart, earl of Traquair], lord commissioner general, and articles think expedient that where the lands exceeds not the yearly rent of 200 merks [...], the signatures thereof passing the exchequer shall contain a precept for taking sasine without passing any seals; and [Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall], advocate, appointed to draw up the act, and the penalty to be a year's rent of the land, being tried within a year, the† third part to the king, and† another third to the informer and a third to the seals.
Regarding the supplication presented by the Lady Luss craving maintenance from [Humphrey Colquhoun], laird of Balvie for her children, the parties and their procurators being heard in presence of the commissioner's grace and articles, the lords of articles find themselves judges competent to prepare the desire of this supplication as an article to be presented to the parliament. The supplication and some defences produced in writing given up to Master John Gilmour that he may produce all his defences in writing, which appoints him to give to Master James Baird this afternoon that he may give his answer in writing tomorrow.
Regarding the copper coin, appoints all milled turnours† bearing the stamp [...] to pass only for a penny where they had course before for two pennies, and John Smith [of Grotehill] to cause draw up the act, which shall also contain the other heads formerly agreed upon regarding the copper coin.
Appoints John Smith to produce the book of rates after noon.
