Procedure: burgh commissioners' appearance before the privy council; continuation

The which day David Aikenhead, William Carnegie and Master Alexander Guthrie, commissioners for the burgh of Edinburgh, accompanied with a number of commissioners from the burghs of this kingdom, compearing personally before the lords of secret council, and being demanded if they had agreed the particular firths, lochs, bays and isles which they crave to be excepted and reserved for the use of the natives of this kingdom, they excused themselves upon the importance of the business and the hurtful consequences that may follow thereupon if the English shall be permitted to fish in the reserved waters. Which excuse being heard and considered by the lords, they have assigned and assign to the said commissioners tomorrow at 10 o'clock in the forenoon to give in a perfect report in writing of the particular firths, lochs, bays and isles which they desire to be reserved
